  • Good morning,

    We wanted to say 'THANK YOU' to all of the Wiscasset residents (voters) who came out last night, Sept. 17th in support of the Wiscasset Community Center! There were over 150 voters checked in and the vote was near unanimous in favor of the WCC / WPRD budget article.
    Thanks again for your continued support of the Wiscasset Community Center!

    WCC Staff
  • Good afternoon,
    GREAT NEWS for the Wiscasset Community Center!

    Since our reopening of the pool on June 3rd and the restricted reopening of the rest of our facility on June 15th, memberships and the use of our facility has been continuing to grow. We want to continue to stress that we request everyone to stop and read through the posted signs before entering the WCC. We have had great feedback from our members and are working hard to continue to update you on any changes in our policies and or guidelines as we move forward during these unprecedented times.
    As we have stated since our reopening in June!
    We ask that everyone please wear a mask when entering and exiting the WCC through the lobby until they get to their designated area (fitness, gym or pool).
    Face masks can be worn but are not required while participating in fitness classes or other vigorous exercise within the WCC, we ask that everyone use common courtesy and provide social distancing of 14' while working out (unmasked). If you are masked while working out a social distance of at least 6' is required.

    Face masks are not required within the pool area by Staff or Swimmers.
    Face masks are not required within the fitness room or gymnasium by users working out.
    While face coverings are recommended to reduce the risk of viral transmission between individuals in public areas, face coverings may not be compatible with many activities and may inhibit respiration during exercise.

    Our Locker Rooms are open to 4 people at a time starting Wednesday, September 9th. For monitoring purposes entry of the locker rooms will continue to be from the pool side only, meaning the doors in the gym hallway will remain closed and locked at this time. Our policy for the locker rooms is going to be similar to that of our fitness room, you will have to take a spray bottle (1 of 4 marked for each locker room) from the table outside the locker room doors (inside the pool area not the front desk). You will be asked to spray down all of the areas you touch within the locker rooms. There will be showers, benches and bathroom facilities available in each locker room, please wear masks where applicable and use social distancing practices to the best of your abilities while using any and all of these spaces within our building. We are also opening up the family changing rooms to the public at the end of the hallway (previously 'Staff only' by the pool entrance by Lori's (Pool Director) office) for families and individuals to change in for the pool.
    This is another small step forward as we move through these unprecedented times.
    Reminder the Pool, Fitness Room and Gymnasium areas are available by reservation only, walk ins are welcome, but discouraged at this time, if there is space available. All reservations are in half hour increments, please be specific as to how much time you will want for your swim in the pool or your exercise within the fitness room or gymnasium (1/2 hour, 1 hour, 1.5 hours). All reservations need to be confirmed, if you leave a message you will get called back as soon as possible, thank you for your patience with this process.

    For reservations;
    Please call (882-8230) or email dgoud@wiscassetrec.com; llapointe@wiscassetrec.com; ctaylor@wiscassetrec.com
    The pool, fitness room and gymnasium are being reserved for the current week as well as the next week coming. We are not taking reservations for more than those 2 weeks that are available at the front desk. There has been increasing interest in all areas of the building, so please reserve your time early or as soon as possible to guarantee the time you would like to have.

    The WCC Fitness Room is limited to 6 reservations at any one time, allowing for proper Social Distancing while using the equipment. Common courtesy needs to be practiced while using the equipment, 20 minutes maximum per piece of equipment unless no one is waiting or wanting to use that piece or an adjacent piece of equipment. When a piece of equipment is in use, no immediate or adjacent piece of equipment can be used (example treadmills, please leave 2 to 3 pieces of equipment in between you and the next person), this will allow for the recommended 14' spacing while working out. If a piece of equipment is marked "NO USE AT THIS TIME", that piece of equipment is not being used at this time to accommodate the requirements of social distancing. We have moved some of our equipment into the gymnasium to allow more pieces of equipment to be used at one time. Thank you in advance for your cooperation, as CDC guidelines and restrictions change so will our site specific guidelines and restrictions.
